OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY!

Finals

Finals / Weather Update
Hello Everyone,

For the 1st time in 19 years the weather is not going to cooperate.  The forecasts call for rain for the next 5 days along with 20-30 mile an hour winds which means the cancellation of numerous semi-final matches that were to be played over the next couple days and the finals this weekend :-(  Therefore...

Finals are postponed until next weekend.

More info to follow.

Draw Sheets
The draws are being worked on and will be sent out starting today with the largest draws first.  If your draw is listed on the Draws page and you did not receive the Round 1 Information email, let us know

Round 1 Information Email
All draws are complete and everyone should have received the "Round 1 Info" email for each division entered with their 1st round opponent(s) name and their contact info.  Contact information is not on the website so keep this email :-)

If you did not receive the email, let us know.

For subsequent rounds, players automatically receive an email with their opponent's contact info as the opponent is determined - except for Round Robins where all the information is in the 1st email.

Scheduling Matches
Players are responsible for scheduling their matches.  Players should try to schedule their matches as early as possible and not wait until the deadline.

A 1-2 day extension can be granted when necessary (injury, out of town, etc) however not trying to contact your opponent until 1-2 days before the deadline is not a valid reason for an extension :-)

Match Format
The tournament will be using the standard 2-out-of-3 sets format with the 3rd set being a 10-point super tie-breaker (first to 10; win by 2).

Switching Sides in a Doubles Tie-Breaker
Tie-breaks will use standard tie-break format - switching sides every 6 points.  If all players agree, the USTA Coman tie-break format can be used: switch after the first point and then every 4 points thereafter.

Where to Play
There is no cost for tournament matches played at the KBTA courts.  However a match can be played on any surface or at any location the players agree to.  Finals will be at KBTA on clay courts.  If a location can not be agreed to then the match should be played at KBTA.

Deadlines
Each round has a deadline for match to be played.  The dates vary depending on draw size so be sure to check the dates for each draw you are in.  If for some reason you feel you cannot complete your match by the deadline (weather, can't reach the other players, etc.), you need to notify us at least 2 days prior to the deadline.

Please take note of the deadline rules below:

• In each round, matches must be played by the posted deadline for that round.
• A 2-day extension is allowed if the tournament is notified at least 2 days before the deadline.
• If a match is not played by the deadline and an extension was not given, then it will go to the default committee to decide who moves on.
• If a match is being played with an extension and does not get played, then it will go to the default committee.
• In the situation where both players/teams have a 'bye' in the 1st round then no extensions will be given.

If you have any issues setting up a match, please let us know as soon as possible.

Doubles Scheduling Tip
When scheduling a doubles match, partners should talk to each other and come up with days/times they can play and then contact the other team.  The other team should talk to each other about those days and then respond - either choosing one of those days or offering alternatives.

Communication should be as a team avoiding all the back-and-forth emails as one partner says they can, then the other says they can't, etc.

If a team sends an email offering dates/times and you want to email your partner to see it any of those days are good DO NOT use 'Reply All' - send the email to just your partner - the other team does not need to be involved in the emails between teammates and it creates confusion when one partner says they can and then later the other partner says they can't.

Questions:
Who provides the balls?
Both players/teams bring a new can of balls.  The winner of the match gets the unopened can.

Where to play?
There is no charge for tournament matches played at KBTA - however matches can be played at any location the players agree on.  If an agreement can not be reached, then the match should be played at KBTA.
